Hooligan Bears
Is it the bears who are the problem
Or is it the humans, pigs, goats or geese
Is it the bears who are the problem
Or maybe just the politicians
Is it the bear who mines the mountain
To dust, in search of metallic ore
Who terraces the hillside
Like Macchu Picchu
Graven image
A facsimile of the sun
Is it the bear who searches
For his face on Mars
Mistakes his image
For the sphinx
Or is it the bear who colonizes
Everything he sees
Who inherits the world
Through the nexus of words
Charts borders and maps his
Way to the moon
Perhaps it’s the bear who puts
Bullets in our guns
And gives us
An itchy trigger
Ten hooligan bears
Reminding us of our
Animal nature
Scaring us to death
Starving, drunken, immature
Playful, likable, and loving
Or is it the humans, pigs, goats or geese
Is it the bears who are the problem
Or maybe just the politicians
Is it the bear who mines the mountain
To dust, in search of metallic ore
Who terraces the hillside
Like Macchu Picchu
